The Golf Course Loop

10km, easy gradient
The Golf Course Loop is a wonderful ride by itself or in addition to a longer ride closer to town. Approximately 10 kilometres in length. The loop begins by descending from the Banff Springs Hotel or from the Town of Banff to Bow Falls. This is a great place for a picture and to start the ride on the loop. The ride passes the many holes on the spectacular Banff Springs Hotel 18-hole golf course, with a great view of number 4 the “The Devil’s Cauldron,” the signature hole on the course. Very few cars, new pavement with the views of the golf course and the Bow River make this short ride a must do on any town ride in Banff. The elevation profile is basically flat, with just one short climb from Bow Falls back towards the town of Banff or the Banff Springs Hotel.

Directions from Banff Townsite:

  • From your location in Banff, get directions to Bow Falls

  • At the Bow Falls parking lot, continue on the road through the parking lot, and out the other side

  • Continue on this road. It goes over a small bridge at which point you are surrounded by the Banff Springs Golf Course.

  • After about 2km, keep your eye out on the right hand side for the beginning of the one-way road. Turn right, this loops around, and then you head back towards Bow Falls.
